Wait, aren’t women at a lower risk for heart disease?
Not exactly!
It is true that we are generally impacted later in life, women of all ages are being affected by cardiovascular conditions. And despite being the leading cause of death worldwide, heart disease in women is seriously under-studied, under-recognized, under-diagnosed, and under-treated.
It’s not a surprise if you’ve ever wondered about your own heart health, but didn’t know where to turn. Or maybe you’ve been told not to worry about your family history of heart disease and high blood pressure during your pregnancy, or higher post-menopausal cholesterol because you’re at low risk.
Women’s heart health is not looked at proactively.
We’re going to change that.
